Ingredients
1 cup dried Irish sea moss, loosely packed
Filtered water for soaking and rinsing
2 to 3 cups filtered water for blending, adjust for desired thickness
Optional Cinnamon Vanilla Version: 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, 1 to 2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey
Optional Turmeric Ginger Glow Version: 1 teaspoon ground turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger or 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger, pinch of black pepper, 1 to 2 teaspoons honey or date syrup
Optional Cocoa Bedtime Version: 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, 2 to 3 teaspoons maple syrup or honey
Instructions
1. Pick through the dried sea moss and remove any visible debris like shells or rocks.
2. Rinse the sea moss several times in cool filtered water, massaging gently, until the water runs mostly clear.
3. Place rinsed sea moss in a large bowl, cover with fresh filtered water at least two inches above the moss, and add a lemon slice if desired. Soak at room temperature for 8 to 24 hours until strands are thick and translucent.
4. Drain and discard all soaking water. Transfer soaked sea moss to a high-speed blender with 2 cups of fresh filtered water.
5. Blend on high until completely smooth, scraping sides as needed. Add more water a little at a time if the sea moss trick recipe gel looks too thick or lumpy.
6. Pour finished gel into a clean glass jar with a lid. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until fully set. Use 1 to 2 tablespoons per day in smoothies or warm drinks.
